The many friends of Miss Chrissie Jones and Harry Shaffer were pleasingly surprised to hear of their marriage which took place in Creston, Wednesday, January 14, 1914, at the Methodist parsonage, the ceremony being performed by Rev. L, K. Billingsley, pastor of that church, promptly at 5 o'clock.

The ring ceremony was used to unite the lives of these two young people in wedlock. They wee attended by Miss Mary Shaffer, sister of the groom, as bridesmaid, and Walter Jones, brother of the bride, as best man. After the ceremony they returned to Corning and journeyed to the home of the bride's father, where a dainty two course luncheon was served to the bridal party and a few immediate relatives.

The bride was handsomely dressed in a gown of white serge, trimmed with messailne and lace and the bridesmaid was becomingly attired in blue silk. The gentlemen wore the usual color.

The bride is the daughter of Daniel Jones, living a few miles south of town. She has been engaged in keeping house for her father and brother the past few years so she is fully acquainted with the duties of a household. The groom is a son of Fred Shaffer, from the vicinity of Stringtown. He is one of the prosperous young farmers of that neighborhood. He is familiarly known as "Doc".

Mr. and Mrs. Shaffer will begin housekeeping soon after the first of February on what is known as the farm of the late Jacob Shaffer, in the locality in which the groom has lived all his life. Friends are offering congratulations.
