John Brown Ahnen (December 30, 1945) married Patsy Anne Elliott (July 4, 1942) July 7, 1973.

They have three children. Kathy Kaye (April 21, 1960) married McKinley Schilling April 1, 1995. They live in West Des Moines. Kenneth LaVerne (May 11, 1961) married Lisa Kay Thompson April 7, 1984. They live in Scottsdale, Arizona, with their two sons, Cody Lee (May 27, 1990) and Ryan Lee (June 4, 1996). Kelly Anne (November 11, 1965) married Todd Charles Oder October 31, 1986. They have two sons, Todd Johnathan "T.J." (February 16, 1988) and Josh Michael (March 6, 1992) and live on a farm near Greenfield.
