ESTHER PATTERSON HAMPTON, was a mild tempered, kindhearted woman. Some
time after her husband died, she left the farm (near Viola, Iowa in Linn
County) and lived with her daughter, Martha, in Blackhawk Co., where she
died the 22nd of the 3rd month, 1857, three years and one day after her
husband and was buried at Poyner's graveyard. Her husband, had earlier
died of typhoid fever (Asa Hampton) 21 March 1854 and was buried in the
Friends cemetery, near Viola, Iowa.
