Miss Peggy Burrows and Mr. Vance Torrence Quietly Wed Saturday
Belle Plaine friends have received announcement of the marriage of Miss Agnes Burrows, formerly of this city to Mr. Vance M. Torrence of Iowa City. The young lady is the older daughter of the late J. H. Burrows and Mrs Burrows, and she was reared and educated here and has many accomplishments.
The following account of the wedding appeared in the Iowa City Press:.
Of unusual interest in the marriage of Miss Peggy Burrows and Mr. Vance Torrence, both of Iowa City, which occurred on Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock, at the home of tho groom’s uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. F. J. Wilson, 62S East Market street. The wedding was made known to only a few intimate friends.
Rev. Sylvester E. Ellis of the First Methodist church read the service, and the attendants were Miss Rose McGuire and Mr. Joseph Barrow of this city. The bride was attired in a beautiful gown of black canton crepe and wore a shower bouquet of Sunburst roses. Miss McGuire wore black crepe de chine, and her flowers were a corsage of violets. The bridal couple left at once for Brooklyn, Iowa, where they visited with relatives of the groom.
Mrs. Torrence is a graduate of the Belle Plaine high school, and for the past two years has been connected with the office of tho Brenard? Manufacturing company. A young woman of exceptional charm and beauty, she enjoys a wide popularity. Mr Torrence was graduated from the Iowa City high school in 1919 and at the present time is a valued employee of the steam laboratory at the university.
The young couple are making their home at 535 South Lucas street where they are receiving a host of congratulations and good wishes.
