Weds Marshalltown Man
Miss Maude Howe Married to Chas. H. Eckman
The marriage of Miss Maude Leona Howe to Charles H. Eckman took place Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Howe, Rev. J. Q. Robinson officiating. The ceremony was witnessed only by the bride's family. The bride was gowned in a blue traveling costume.
Mr. and Mrs. Eckman left on No. 5 for Des Moines, and will spend a week visiting there and at Boone and Madrid, where the bride has relatives. Afterwards they will be at home at 307 North Fifth Street, Marshalltown.
The bride is a young woman who has always made her home in Belle Plaine with the exception of a few years spent in California. With exceptional music talent, she has pleased Belle Plaine people many times. For some months she has been in Malcolm's music store.
Mr. Eckman was until a few months ago a stranger to Belle Plaine people. He came here in July as a contractor to build the new Congregational church, and was not long in yielding to the charms of the young woman who was to become his bride. At present he is employed by the A. E. Shorthill & Co., structural iron and bridge manufacturers of Marshalltown. He is a young man of excellent qualities.
Although the marriage is something of a surprise to many of the bride's Belle Plaine friends, all unite in wishing the couple a happy life.
