The Chases owned a farm in Homer Township at what is now the
northwest corner of 13th Avenue and 64th Street. They moved to Benton
County from Otsego County, New York, in 1867. Erastus served with the 91st
New York Bat. in the Civil War. He is listed in the 1878 "HISTORY OF BENTON
COUNTY, IOWA" and is listed in the 1908-1909 roster of Benton County
Veterans Association.
