Weichman rites held Friday
Bertha Marie Wichman
Blairstown - A heart attack claimed the life of Bertha Marie Weichman at 1 a.m., July 27. She had been ill two and a half weeks and died in St. Luke's hospital, Cedar Rapids.
The deceased was born Feb. 20, 1898, the daughter of Henry and Kathryn Schirm. She was married Sept. 15, 1919, at Marion to Victor Weichman.
From 1919 until 1950 they made their home on the Weichman homestead before moving to Newhall. She was a member of the Tabitha Society, St. John's Lutheran Church, American Legion auxililary and the Newhall women's club.
The couple had two children, Don, Newhall, and Mrs. Charles R. (Byrdine) Siek, Blairstown. There are three grandchildren, Debbie and Cindy Weichman and Bobbi Jean Siek. Also surviving are are a sister, Mrs. G. H. Geitman, Daventport, four brothers, Will, Laurence and Fred Schirm, Cedar Rapids, and Lewis Schirm, Garrison.
Services were held Friday, July 29, at 1:30 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, Newhall...
Caskerbearers were: DeWayne Schirm, Garrison; Glenn Schirm, Newhall; Vernon Schirm, Vinton; Ronald and Melvin Schirm, Cedar Rapids; and Dale Graban, Rock Island, Ill. All are nephews.
Burial was in Cedar Memorial cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Attending were folks from Prairie Du Chien, Wis., Chicago, Ill., Madison, Wis., Rock Island, Ill., Van Horne, Vinton, Atkins, Blairstown, Cedar Rapids, Newhall and Shellsburg.
