Hold funeral of Aug. Wendel At Blairstown

Born- 29 Jan 1871 Blairstown-funeral rites for August Wendel, 62 years old, who died early Thursday morning at his home six miles northeast of Blairstown, will be held Saturday at 1:00 PM at Grace Lutheran church here. The Rev. W.C. Stoll will conduct the services. Interment will be in a cemetery near Atkins.
Mr Wendel had been ill several months with ?erysipelas. His death followed a paralytic stroke. He had been a member of the Lutheran church at this place since 1925.
Mr Wendel was born Jan 29, 1871, on the Wendel estate farm near Atkins, being a son of Conrad and Nancy Wendel. April 22, 1901, he was married to Miss Louise Krahling. To this unions six children were born, five of whom with the widow, survive. They are Henry Wendel and Mrs Anna Haerther of Atkins, Loren, Ida Mae and Elwood of near Watkins. There is one grandchild, William Lee Wendel: one brother, Harry Wendel of Atkins, three sisters: Mrs Cora Schloterback of Manly, Mrs John Raetz and Miss Martha Wendel of Atkins. One daughter, Alice, died in infancy.

Mrs Nancy Wendel Dies Suddenly

Atkins, April 19 1924-The death of Mrs Nancy Wendel 75, widow of Conrad Wendel, occurred this morning at 5:30. Although in ill health for some time, Mrs Wendel was not confined to her bed, her death was sudden. The funeral will be held Monday afternoon.
Deceased had been a resident of Atkins for many years. Surviving are three sons and three daughters as follows: Henry, living near Atkins; William of Norway; August of Watkins; Mr John Raetz of Atkins; Mrs Jake Schlotterback, Manly; and Miss Martha, who lived with her mother. One son, Jake died a year ago.

Wm. Wendel Was Born in Germany in 1862
Wm. Wendel, born in Hess Germany on June 6th 1862 passed away at his home in Blairstown, Iowa on Sunday March 27th at the age of 64 years, 9 months and 20 days. Since the death of his wife six months ago Mr. Wendel had been living alone but during his last illness was tenderly cared for by friends and the M. W. A. lodge which ministered to his comfort. He had been an invalid for a number of years. He was a section worker on the Northwestern railroad for a number of years and had lived In Blairstown 30 years.
One son, John Wendel survives him but his whereabouts at the present time is unknown. The deceased has a brother Jack Wendel living in Marengo, a daughter-in-law and two grandchildren, John and Margaret Wendel, also of Marengo. His aged father and brother are living in Germany.
Funeral services were held on Monday at one o'clock at the Evangelical church in Blairstown with Rev. J. D. Klooz in charge. Burial was made in Pleasant Hill cemetery at Blairstown.
