JOHN J. WARNER, 85, OF VAN HORNE DIES AT VINTON HOSPITAL

Van Horne, April 30---Funeral services will be held in Van Horne at 2:30 Thursday afternoon at St. Andrews Lutheran church for John J. Warner. 85, who died Monday in the Vinton hospital. He was taken there for treatment last Wednesday.
He is the last survivor of the 20 original charter members of that congregation and is also one of the oldest pioneer residents of this community. He lived in Van Horne 60 years.
Mr. Warner was born in Germany Sept. 18, 1860, and came to this country with his parent in 1867. The Warner family located on the farm near here and when Mr. Warner was young he started clerking in a general merchandise store in Van Horne and followed that profession until he retired from active life.
He and his only surviving sister, Mrs. Emma Becker, were established in the pioneer veterans home here. Other survivors are a son, Ernest Warner, of Bureau, Ill., who arrived here accompanied by his wife several days ago; three brothers, Will Warner of Rock Rapids, Henry Warner of Waterloo, and Charley Warner of Shellsburg.
The Rev. Wm. Ullerich will conduct the funeral services and burial will be in St. John's Lutheran cemetery southeast of Van Horne.
