Anna Elizabeth Taylor

Mrs. W. J. [William Joseph] Taylor died yesterday morning after an illness lasting only a week. She leaves a husband and four children to mourn her death. The funeral will be held at the Methodist church Wednesday morning at 10:30. The deceased was 48 years of age.

Former Citizen Taken By Death
Mabel Taylor

The subject of the following clipping taken from the Cedar Rapids Republican, was formerly a resident here and will be remembered as Miss. Metta Cluett. She was a daughter of the late George Cluett and Mrs. Ellen Cluett.

"Mrs. Mabel Cluett Taylor, wife of Henry Newton Taylor, 1260 Eleventh street, died Saturday at 4:30 a.m after an extended illness. She was born in Iowa county, near Marengo, October 20, 1872 and is survived by her husband and son, George, her mother, Mrs. Cluett of Cedar Rapids, seven sisters and one brother. A daughter Catherine Margaret died in 1913. Mrs. Taylor was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church.

Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Earle A. Baker at the Pingrey chapel Monday at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in Oak Shade cemetery.

Margaret Taylor Died Saturday at Daughter's Home

Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon at Peffers Funeral home for another long time resident of the community.

Mrs. Margaret Tidball Taylor died Saturday, March 31, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Fay Stahl, following a brief illness.

She was born Jan. 5, 1866, at Koszta, the daughter of Dr. S. M. and Margaret Cook. She attended the Belle Plaine schools.

On Jan. 26, 1886, she was united in marriage to William Tidball. They became the parents of four children: Fay Stahl and Willfrene Shuey of Belle Plaine, one daughter, Marguerite Rusk, and one son, Howard, are deceased.

She operated a millinery store where the dentist office of Dr. Thomasson is now, a beauty shop over the Hadenfeldt Shoe Store, and also the North Western cafe for about 18 months. She spent five years at the Miami railroad hotel, returning here in 1916.

Sept. 25, 1930, she was married to Charles Sutton and to T. J. Taylor at Oleatha, Kans., on Sept. 4, 1942.

She always did a great deal of fancy work, especially embroidery, and listened to the radio while she worked. She was a great lover of flowers and her windows were always full of plants.

She was a member of the Methodist church, charter member of the Embroidery club, member of Sunnyside club, Home Art and Jolly Ten, also a 50-year member of the Eastern Star lodge.

Also surviving are one sister, Mrs. Jessie Latham, Plainfield, N.J., one brother, Luther Cook of Oskaloosa, one great great grandchild, two great grandchildren, and six grandchildren. There is one deceased grandchild.

Rev. Warren Feller, pastor of Christ Methodist church, conducted the service. Richard Gatrelle sang, accompanied by Mrs. Marie Christman, organist..Pallbearers were Eugene Palmer, O.A. Rucker, Lou Rusk, Leroy Wright, A.R. Nichols and Mark Greenlee.

Interment was in Oak Hill cemetery with MorningStar Chapter 108, Order of Eastern Star, in charge of services.

Relatives attending the service were Mrs. Harold B. Graves of Louisville, Ky., Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Rusk and Cathy of Clinton, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Johnson, Jim and Ernest Cook and Mrs. Lucile McCoy, all of Oskaloosa.

Ray M. Taylor Dies at Age 39
Ray M. Taylor

Vinton News--Ray M. Taylor, 39 owner of the Taylor funeral home, died at the Virginia Gay hospital Monday about 7 pm, after suffering a heart attack earlier in the day.

Funeral services will be held in the Vinton Methodist church Thursday at 10:3 am. and at 3 pm Thursday in the Raymond funeral home in Fairfield. The Rev. Robert Phillips will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery in Fairfield. Friends may call at the funeral home.

Mr. Taylor was born in Fairfield Aug 17, 1922, a son of James and Ronda Chapman Taylor. He was married to Ida M. Carlson on Nov 10, 1946. They moved to Vinton from Marion five years ago when he bought the funeral home. They are the parents of one son, James B., 10 years old.

A veteran of World War II. Mr. Taylor served in the Army three years, two and a half of those years overseas. He was a member of the American Legion, the Masonic order, the Lions club and the Methodist church.

In addition to his wife and son, two sisters, Hazel Kinser of Champaign, Ill., and Willa Mae Forbes of Henderson, Ark., and two brothers, DeMar Taylor of East Moline, Ill., and Howard of Guntersville, Ala., survive.
