Mrs. Al Schrader Dies Following Long Illness

The Rev. Duane Raftis of Van Horne and the Rev. Joseph F. Griffin of Waterloo co-celebrated the mass at the funeral services for Mrs. Alphonse (Elizabeth) Schrader, 79, in St. Paul's Catholic Church, Newhall, Friday, Jan. 20, 1978, at 11 a.m. Burial was in St. Michael's cemetery, Norway.

Mrs. Schrader died Tuesday, Jan. 17 in Mercy hospital, Cedar Rapids, where she had been a patient for about four weeks, following a long illness.

She was born at Norway, Ia., Mar. 28, 1898; a daughter of Rudolph Plotz and Anna Bartosh Plotz. On Feb. 4, 1920 she was married to Alphonse Schrader in St. Michael's Catholic church, Norway.

Survivors include nine children, four daughters and five sons. They are Mrs. William (Marcella) Schmidt, Springville; Mrs. Dallas (Esther) Hannah, Humistan; Mrs. John (Elizabeth) Thoma, Waterloo; and Mrs. John (Luella) Lorimer, Cedar Rapids; sons, Arthur, Dysart; Charles, Norway; James, Walford; Joseph, Fairfax; and Harold, Cedar Rapids; also a brother, Joseph Plotz; and 51 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Frank, Charles, John and Rudolph, and two sisters, Anna Petrzelka and Marie Johnson.

Pallbearers were five grandsons, Gerald Schmidt, Dennis Schrader, Michael Lorimer, Terry Hannah, David Schrader and Lynn Schrader.

Altar boys were also grandsons, Bob Schrader, Dan Schrader and John Thoman.

Music was provided by the Newhall church choir and solo by Doug Schrader, accompanied by Mrs. Virgil Novotny, organist.

Fellmet Funeral home, Keystone, was in charge of arrangements.
