Keystone---Funeral services were held on Tuesday, April 4 (1967) at 2 p.m. at Campbell Funeral Home in Vinton for William Roenkendorf, 77, who died early Sunday morning at University Hospitals in Iowa City. Rev. Otto Nuechterlein officiated and the burial was in Maplewood Cemetery, Vinton.
He was born October 23, 1889 at St. Peter, Germany, and came to this country in 1914 and was naturalized in 1943. He resided and worked as a painter at Keystone and since April, 1965, was a resident at the Virginia Gay Hospital Annex...
{Submitter comment: Bill Roenkendorf lived in what had been a country school north of Keystone Iowa. Nearly every spring my parents hired him to wallpaper. I recall his German accent, warm smile, and love of coffee and cinnamon rolls.}
