Anna Ridge
Vinton - Mrs. Walter G. Ridge, 77, at her home in Vinton; nee Anna Nieremeyer, to Mr. and Mrs. Simon Nieremeyer Aug. 5, 1868, near Pella; was married in Vinton to Walter G. Ridge Oct. 21, 1889; to this union were born the following children: Mrs. Zody Dlo Gilmore, Freeport, Ill.; Mrs. Helen Marguerite Thill, Tama and Vincent H. Ridge of West Los Angeles, Cal., all surviving and one son, Harold Lorraine, who preceded her in death at the ge of two years; in 1920 Mrs. Ridge went to Coblenz, Germany, to be with her husband, who had been there since 1918, they returned from Europe in 1922; after a short stay with their son in California they went to Chicago, where they lived until 1931; returned to Vinton in 1931 and had lived here ever since except for the years 1936 and 1937 when they were in Wadsworth O.; Mrs. Ridge was a member of the Presbyterian church; funeral Sunday at the Fry-Holland funeral home at 2:30 p.m.; burial in Evergreen cemetery.

Harold Loraine Ridge
Harold Loraine, son of Walter G. and Anna Ridge was born in Vinton, Benton county, Iowa, June 4tb, 1896, and departed this life at Maquoketa, Iowa, April 20th at 7;00 p. m., 1898, of spasmodic convulsion. His remains were brought to Vinton and interred in Evergreen cemetery.. Funeral services were held at the residence of W. O. Ridge by Dr. E. H. Avery on Friday at 10:30 a. m. The good people of Vinton, as far as it was known, manifested great sympathy for the sorely afflicted and especially the Knights of Pythias of which Walter is a member. Services were also held at Maquoketa by Rev. Shepard, the Knights attending in their regular order as a lodge to convey little Harold to Vinton where he was born and now awaits the general resurrection of the dead. Blessed thought, "Suffer little children to come unto me (said Christ) for of such is the kingdom of heaven." The beautiful white casket, the profusion of floral decorations, the kind and comforting words of Dr. Avery, all manifest the esteem in which the little unoffending angel was held here on earth, but how faint is all this to the rapture in heaven over the advent of one so good, so pure, so sinless. Parents, grieve not, but rather rejoice that your loved one has preceded you to the glory land and will be there to meet you and rejoice with all of the saints in heaven.
