Vernice E "Bunny" Overfield
Shellsburg- Vernice E. "Bunnie" Overfield, 89, died Tuesday morning, October 2, 2001 at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids following a brief illness.
She was born September 20, 1912 at Russell, KS to Rev Samuel A. and Minta Mae (Wolfe) Fisher. Her family later moved to Iowa when she graduated from the Moravia High School in 1930 she married Elmer E. Overfield at Cedar Rapids. He preceded his wife in death on February 19, 1971...
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers and five sisters.
She is survived by two dauthers, Connie Owens and husband, Joe of Palo, and Vicki Childers of Vinton; her son, Lynn "Pete" Overfield and wife Merla of Shellsburg; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, October 5, 2001 at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel in Vinton. Interment of cremains will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Shellsburg...

Shellsburg March 22-Samuel Overfield, 82 died at noon yesterday at his home here.
He was born March 18 1865, in Pennsylvania and came to Iowa in 1894, settling orginally in Anamosa. In 1903 he was marred to Evelyn Jackells who preceded him in death. He leaves a son, Elmer Overfield of Shellsburg, two grandchildren and two step-daughters.
Funeral services will he held Sunday at the Federated Church at 2 p.m. with Rev. George Nehf. officiating, Burial will be in the Shellsburg cemetery.
