Death of A. C. Moir
Alexander C. Moir
Alexander C. Moir was born in Aberdeen, Scotland, June 22, 1842, and died in Cedar Rapids June 4, 1918, at the age of 75 years, 11 months, and 12 days.
Mr. Moir came to America in 1868, settling in Cedar County, Iowa, where he lived until he came to Benton county in 1900. They moved to Shellsburg in 1917.
He was married to Barbara Chappel March 11, 1879. Five children were born to this union. Nellie May died in childhood. The surviving children are Mrs. Jacob Vaupel, Dysart; Mrs. Melville, Van Horne, Witchita, Kansas; Oscar Moir, Cedar Rapds, and Rhoda at home.
Mr. Moir united with the Presbyterian church in early manhood while in Scotland, and remained faithful until called home. "He that endureth unto the end, the same shall be saved.".
Besides his wife and children there are left two grandchildren, one sister, and one brother, besides many friends. Mr. Moir was a good neighbor and a faithful and loving husband and father.
The funeral was held at the Presbyterian church Friday afternoon at 2:30, Rev. Lindsey having charge. The foral offerings were beautiful. Interment was in the Shellsburg Cemetery.
