Rites Wednesday for Frank Mead
Frank Oscar Mead
Shellsburg-Frank Oscar Mead, 76 retired Rock Island brakeman, died Monday morning in the Americana Nursing Home in Cedar Rapids. He was born March 17, 1896 in Scotch Grove. A veteran of World War I and II, he was a member of the American Legion at West Liberty. Surviving are two sisters, Opal Groth of Shellsburg and Ruby Mead of Elkader. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Ruth McGowan.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday noon at Turner Chapel East, with cremation and burial later in the Shellsburg Cemetery. A military service will be held at the chapel...
