OakVIVIAN MC CALLEY, 68, NATIVE OF SHELLSBURG, DIES SHELLSBURG-Vivian Sue McCalley, 68, wife of Carl R. McCalley of Cedar Rapids, and native of Shellsburg where she was born Dec. 15, 1897, died Saturday following a brief illness, She had lived here a year.
She was married in Shellsburg June 25, 1924, and is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William DeFoe. Surviving in addition to her husband is a sister, Mrs. J.S. Skien of Grants Pass, Ore.
Mrs. McCalley was a member of the Shellsburg Presbyterian church; White Lilley chapter, O.E.S. of Shellsburg; World War I Barracks Auxiliary; and the Retired Teachers Association, She taught school in Cedar Rapids before her marriage from 1922 to 1924. Later she taught in Alburnett, Palo, South Tama county and Walford schools.
Memorial services were held at Turner chapel in Cedar Rapids today by Rev. Ralph Colton. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery at Shellsburg.
