Aaron LaRue
Mr. Aaron LaRue has passed away. He died December 30, 1884, having passed his 84th birthday. The funeral services took place at the Friends' Church, Rev. Clouse, of Van Horne, officiating.

Obituary
Chambers C. LaRue
Chambers C. LaRue was born in Marion Co., Ohio, November 18, 1835, where he grew to manhood. He came to Benton County, Iowa with this parents in 1856. He was married to Olive E. Shutts, March 20, 1866 to which there were born five children four of who survive him.
At his country's call he enlisted and and in the service he received wounds from which he lost his health and never entirely regained it. During the last twenty years he devoted much time and thought to christian work, having united with the Christian church many years ago. He died October 6th, at his home near Van Horn, and was laid to rest in the cemetery near his farm. The funeral services were conducted by Jos. T. Nichols, of the Christian church in Vinton. The services were attended by a large concourse of people, thus showing their respect to one who had been a kind neighbor, a brave soldier and an earnest christian.

Isaac LaRue
On Tuesday of last week occurred the death of Isaac LaRue, after an illness of several months. The deceased is one of the early settlers of the county and had been a resident of Blairstown for many years. Heartful sympathy is extended to the widow who is left in the afternoon of life.

Blairstown Press: Isaac LaRue was born May 25th, 1840, in Mount Gilead. Warren county, Ohio, where he lived until he was sixteen years of age. In 1856 he moved to Big Grove, Benton county, Iowa. Having lost his eyesight at the age of five years — the result of a very severe illness — he attended the school for the blind at Columbus, Ohio, and at Iowa City, Iowa, and also at Vinton, Iowa. He was very studious and became very proficient. For a time had charge of the Industrial department of a similar institution at Wyandotte, Kansas. On July. 14th, 1873, he was married to Miss Hannah M. Crabb, of Vinton, Iowa. In 1874 they moved to Blairstown, where they have since resided, living useful, happy, and devoted lives and enjoying the confidence and esteem of the whole community. In 1870 he made a profession of religion and united with the First Presbyterian church of Vinton. Upon coming to Blairstown he became identified with the Presbyterian church at this place, and in which he faithfully served for a number of years as deacon. The interests of the church were always very near his heart. About November 1st 1897, just six months ago, he was taken seriously ill by. a disease that continued to make a stealthy, but steady progress, until the final surrender on Wednesday morning, May 4th, 1898 at about 9 o’clock. Mr. LaRue was a great sufferer, greater doubtless, than the friends anticipated. His uniform cheerful disposition and Christian resignation appeared through his long and serious illness. His work is done, and with the life in evidence, we may all hear the words of the Master in approval, “well done, good and faithful servant, enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.” The funeral services were from his late home on Thursday forenoon, the Rev. Geo. Ainslie officiating. The last resting place, agreeable to his own previous request, is at Big Grove, by the side of his parents.

DEATH OF MRS. LARUE A COUNTY PIONEER
Olive LaRue
Mrs. C. C. LaRue, a former resident of Vinton died Thursday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. O. P. Tyler, northwest of Van Horne a the age of 78 years.
Mrs. LaRue made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Rogers, on South A Avenue in Vinton until the marriage of Mrs. Rogers to Wilson Harper and their removal to California. After that she went to live with he son for a while at Chariton and later came to make her home with Mrs. Tyler. The children who are mourning the death of a devoted mother are Mrs. Tyler, Mrs. Harper, Mrs. A. Healy of Mt. Auburn, and one son H.C. LaRue of Chariton.
Mrs LaRue was a pioneer woman of fine character and had a host of warm, devoted friends.
Rev. F. M. Warren, formerly of Vinton, conducted the funeral services at the Tyler Home Saturday morning at 11 o'clock and the burial was in the Friends cemetery south of Garrison.
