Mrs. Laura Lane dies at Vinton Home
Mrs. Laura L. Lane, 76 died Saturday at her home in Vinton. She was born april 14, 1897 at Chillicothe, Ill., a daughter of John and Irene Swallom Livermore, and was married Sept 6, 1915 at Marion to Roy Lane. She was a member of the Rayal Neighbor Lodge at Shellsburg. She is survived by her husband; two daughters , Mrs. David (Onalee) Abernathy of Vinton and Arbutrus Lane of Vinton; seven grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. William (Fern) Lucia of Holly wood, Fla. And Mrs Frank (Madline) Celvick of Flushing N.Y. two brothers, Jack Livermore of Palo and Voris Livermore of Garden Grove, Calf. She was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Campbell Funeral Home, with the Rev. Harold Wagner officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery at Shellsburg...

Shellsburg, June 7, Mrs. Mattie J. Lane, 81, died at her home her last night after an illness of seven months.
Mattie Grant was born at Parkers Grove June 25, 1866, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Orson G. Grant. She lived all her live in Benton County. She married Freeman Henry Lane on April 10, 1888. They observed their 60th wedding anniversary this year.
Surviving are her husband and sa son Roy Lane of Shellsburg two grandaughters. Mrs. Onalee Abernathy and six great grand children. A daughter May and son Verl preceded her.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 o'clock Wednesday afternoon in the Federated church her Rev. Leroy Hansen will be in charge. Burial will be in the Shellsburg cemetery. Friends may call at the Fry and Holland funeral home in Vinton...

Roy G Lane Times News- Roy Grant Lane, 83, died Friday morning at the Virginia Gay Hospital. He was born Oct 7 1896 at West Liberty, a son of Freeman Henry and Martha Lane. He was married Sept. 6, 1915 at Marion to Laura L. Livermore, who died March 23 1974. Before retiring, he was employed 39 years by the Rock Island Railroad. He was a member of the Methodist Church at Shellsburg. Surviving are two daughters Onalee Abernathey and Arbutus Lane of Vinton; six grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held this afternoon a the Campbell-Russell Funeral Home, with the Rev. Warren Johnson officiating. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery, Shellsburg...
