Mrs. Ellen Celestia House passed away at her home on 7th Ave. (Belle Plaine, Iowa) on Wednesday morning following a stroke of paralysis with which she stricken thirty six hours earlier.
The funeral was held Thursday afternoon from the home and was in charge of her pastor Dr. Gilbert Challace, and burial was in Oak Hill. Ellen Celestia Scoville was born in Whiteside county Ill. June 20th 1854 and passed away July 23rd 1924 at the age of 70 years one month and three days. In 1873 she was married to John E House at Dresden in Powesheik county and to this union was born two children Alexander House and Cora Carl both of (unreadable due to fold in paper)( but presumably both of whom reside in Belle Plaine). Cont. west of Deep River. Nine years ago following the death of her husband, came to Belle Plaine where she has since resided.
In early life Mrs. House united with the Methodist Episcopal church and to it’s tenants she remained faithful to the end. She was one of those splendid women whose lives are devoted to their family and whose lives are an inspiration to those whom they are associated. Besides two children, she is survived by a brother Frank Scoville a sister Mrs. John Gross of Deep River and a host of other relatives
