Henry Heim, 70 Years Old Is Found Dead By Neighbor In Home This Morning

Shellsburg, Dec, 23-Old, alone and sick and almost friendless, Henry Heim, 70, of Shellsburg, early today decided that he had not the courage to face another cheerless Christmas.
Neighbor Find Body
Jack Lint, a neighbor, going to assist him during his illness, found his body, hanging from a rope in the stairway. When discovered the aged man had been dead but a short while.
Heim lived alone in a house in the west part of Shellsburg.
For twelve years he had lived thus, most of the time without intercourse with his fellow beings. During the last few years, as age began to shatter his constitution, he was frequently absent from the streets for long periods of time.
Brother, Sister Survive.
He had no immediate family. A brother, James Heim, of Vinton, and a sister, Mrs. Joe Benish, of near Shellsburg are the only known surviving relatives. Immediately after the body was discovered, Coroner Medlin of Belle Plaine was called.
No funeral arrangements have been made.

Rebecca Heim
Rebecca Brown was born in Schuylkill county, Pa., November 21, 1830, and passed away at her home in this city February 29, 1916. She was married to Samuel Heim June 23, 1850. To this union were born ten children, two died in infancy and one son, John Adam, died fourteen years ago, the rest are left to mourn their dear, departed mother. They are Jared Heim of Ruthland, Iowa; Ella Vitek, of Stockton, California; Samuel and Wm, of Pa., Mrs. Sarah Benesh, of Atkins; James Heim, of near Shellsburg and Henry at home. She was confirmed in the German Lutheran Reformed church in Pennsylvania, when a child. In 1870 they came to Cedar county, Iowa, and moved to Shellsburg in 1904. She was a loving wife and mother, of a gentle disposition and was loved by those who knew her. Besides her husband and children she leaves to mourn many other relatives and friends. The funeral will be held at the M. E. church at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon, Rev. B. L. Weaver having charge. Interment will be in the Shellsburg cemetery.
