Aged Blairstown Woman Passes Away
Mary Hartz
Mrs. Mary Hartz died Wednesday, January 15th,Ja at her home three miles south of Blalrstown, at six o’clock in the morning after an Illness of one week of bronchial pneumonia.
She was born October 5, 1846 and was daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Towser who came to Benton County from Ohio in early days She was born in this vicinity. She has one sister jut no trace of her can be found.
Mr. and Mrs. Towser passed away when both girls were small. Mr. Robert Furness and wife raised them. Mrs. Mary Hartz was married to Solomon Hartz, a Benton county farmer Mr. Hartz died 36 years ago.
Mrs. Hartz was the mother of seven children, the living are: Mrs. Susan Huff of Marengo: John, at home: Mrs Francis Woods of Blairstown; George who also lives at home. One daughter, Elsie, died in 1907. Another daughter, Mabel, died in August, 1927. Also one son died In infancy. The deceased leaves 17 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Hartz was a pioneer of the sturdy type, a hard worker and was loved by all around her.
Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church on Friday, Jan. 17. Rev. O. B. Peck had charge of the service.
Burial was in the Pleasant Hill cemetery.
