Obituary for Mrs. Harger
Ida Mae Harger
Ida Mae Barr was born on the Barr farm 6 miles north of Shellsburg on November, 1865. She was the oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Barr and her entire life was spent in Benton County. In 1881 she was married to Henry Harger. Twelve children were born to this union, one of them died at birth. The others, with the husband are left to mourn her departure. They are Howard, of Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Esto Sanders, of Vinton, Glen of Rock Island; Mrs. Edna Naylor of Brandon; Roy of Washington D.C.; Mrs. Floy Fix, of Cedar Rapids, Ivan, a member of the aviation corps now in France; Pearl of Cedar Rapids; Dean and Eva at home.
Mrs. Harger united with the Christian Church at Oak Grove in her youth and remained a member all of her life. She was a former president of the Sherman Circle, of this city. She was a good wife, a loving mother and a kind friend and neighbor.
She was taken sick on Thursday March 14, and went to the hospital at Cedar Rapids Monday March 18. She seemingly passed through an operation for appendicitis and abcess all right, but became worse Tuesday and passed away that night at 10:30. The remains were brought here Wednesday evening and the funeral was held at the Baptist church at 11:00 o'clock Friday morning, conducted by Rev. L. Hoff of Cedar Rapids, former pastor of the Oak Grove church. Interment was in the Shellsburg cemetery.
There was a large attendance at the funeral. The Sherman Circle attending in a body, this being only the second member to be called by death. Beside the husband and children two sisters, Ella Harger and Mrs. Anna Hammon, many other relatives and a host of friends are left to mourn her departure.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Harger at Shellsburg
Shellsburg. Jan. 28- Special funeral services for Mrs. Vernon Harger were held Monday afternoon at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Burt Sheehy. Rev. C. E. Lafayette Hoff of Cedar Rapids conducted the services, assisted by Rev. C. E. Bryden. Interment was in Oakwood.
Linnett Shehy was born in Linn county and was 25 years of age. On July 1, 1915, she was united in marrage to Vernon Hager. They moved to Cedar Rapids, where Mr. Harger is employed by George T. Hedges & Co. The past eighteen months Mr. and Mrs. Harger were in Detroit and Washington, D.C. where Mr. Harger was in the government service. Death was due to influenza. The deceased joined the Parker's Grove Baptist Church in early girlhood and later transferred her membership to (I can't read it(Second) ) Christian Church in Cedar Rapids.

Morrow Harger, Benton Farmer, Dies Suddenly
Morrow Harger
Afflicted with heart disease, Morrow Harger, 77 years of age, retired Benton County farmer, died suddenly Sunday. Since leaving his farm near Shellsburg some years ago, Mr. Harger has made his home with his children. He came to Vinton recently after being with his daughter, Mrs. Harold Williams in the country. Funeral arrangements have not been made.
Mr. Harger was born March 14,1855, in Coshocton County, Ohio, a son of George W. and Jane Harger. He came to Iowa with his parents when a year old and the family settled on a farm near Shellsburg. His marriage to Sophia Greenwood occurred at Vinton, the wife dying in 1903. Left with nine small children to care for, Mr. Harger remained on the farm... Three sons preceded him in death.
Five sons and a daughter surviving the father are: Allan Harger of Spencer, Wis., Everett Harger of Cedar Rapids, James E. Harger of Vinton, Mrs. H.B. Williams of Walker, Jennings Harger of Spencer, Wis., and Nelson Harger of Los Angeles, Calif. A brother Geo W. Harger lives in Cedar Rapids. In recent years Mr. Harger underwent an operation for eye cancer... Burial will be in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery near Shellsburg.

Sophia Greenwood Harger
Mrs. Sophia (Greenwood) Harger was born in Carol County, Maryland, October 23, 1860 and moved with her parents to Iowa in 1868. She was married to Morro Harger August 16, 1882 and died September 21, 1903, aged 42 years and eleven months. She leaves a husband, eight children, six sisters and two brothers to mourn her loss.
