Obituary Mrs. Olivia Freeman Grant
Olivia Grant
OBITUARY Mrs. Olivia Freeman was born in the State of New York, Jan. 11, 1833. On the second of May 1832, she was married to Mr. Orson Grant at Jackson, Michigan. In 1861 or 62 the couple came to Iowa, locating near Shellsburg in which vicinity they have lived since.
Of this marriage six children were born. Two sons and four daughters. One daughter passed away December 2, 1871, the husband departed this life May 20, 1901. Five children survive to mourn the loss of the mother, Mrs. F.N. Web after, Emmetsburg, Ia., H. A. Grant, Vinton, Ia., L. L. Grant Clarksville, Ia., Mrs. E. M. Palmer, Hampton, Virginia, and Mrs. M. J. Lane, Shellsburg. On the sixth of December, 1906 the death angel knocked on the door calling Mrs. Grant to another world. She was a consistent member of the M. E. Church until the time of her death. She responded as must all others at some time we know not when. For all must pass through the valley of the shadow of death.
