Rites Saturday for Lyle A. Fowler
Lyle A. Fowler
Lyle A. Fowler, 58, died Thursday evening at the Virginia Gay Hospital following an apparent heart attack.
He was born Dec 29, 1920 at Vinton, a son of John Kersey and Belva Long Fowler. He married Mary Evelyn Wods, July 4, 1941, at Kirksville, MO. He was a butcher at the MeToo Store 19 years and was currently employed at the Farewary Store. He was a member of the First Christian Church. He served in the Army in World War II and was a member of George G. Luckey Post 57 of the American Legion.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by five sons, Doug, Lyle Jr. and Bob of Vinton, John of Cedar Rapids and Pete of Center Point; three daughters, Mrs. Bob (Mary) Downs and Mrs. Rick (Vicki)Laton of Vinton and Mrs. Derrick (Nancy)Blackmer of Waterloo; 13 grandchildren; and one sister Jeannette Langham of Cedar Rapids. He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be at 10 am. Saturday at the First Christian Church, with the Rev. Fred Banda the Rev. Ben Sinderson officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
