Obituary
Catharine Dilling

Mrs. Catharine Dilling was born in Blain County, Penn., September 19, 1826, died Vinton, Iowa, November 6, 1910.

Mrs. Dilling came to Benton County, Iowa, with her husband in 1851, settling on a farm two miles west of the Mt. Pleasant church. They moved to Linn County, Iowa in 1873 and from there to Hardin County where they resided until Mr. Dilling's death in 1901. Mrs. Dilling was the mother of six children, Sadie Jane, and Emory Oliver, who survive her, Etta May, Elizabeth, John and Margaret deceased.

Mrs. Dilling was a faithful Christian and earnest worker in her church. She was greatly loved by a large circle of relatives and friends; besides being a mother to her own children, she raised two grandchildren, giving them the same loving unselfish care she gave her own.

Mrs. Dilling was one of a family of ten children, three whom are still living, Mrs. Maggie Tresh, of Geneva, Neb.; Mrs. Mary Lite, of LeMars; and Mrs. Barbara Walls, of Altamont, Kansas. Mrs. Dilling has long desired to join her husband, whom she has mourned every minute since his death, and when the summons from on high came, she was ready and willing to go.

Funeral services held at Mt. Pleasant church, services being conducted by Rev. M. M. McGlashing, pastor of the United Brethren church, Vinton circuit.
