Hannah Davis
DIED-At their home in Eden township, Benton County, Iowa, January 10, 1892. Hannah Wilson, wife of David Davis, age 80 years and 9 days. The deceased was born in Fayette county, Ohio, January 1, 1812. She was married March 16, 1826. She was the mother of five children-two sons and three daughters, one daughter having preceded her to the better land. At the age of 27 years she united with the Protestant Methodist Church and continued in that communion until the year 1876 when she united with the first M.E. church in whose fellowship she spent the remainder of her life. She was a good woman, a true wife, a kind and tender mother, a faithful and exemplary christian, and an example worthy of imflation to the church and community in which she lived and died. Her stricken husband and bereaved children in their great loss have the consolation of knowing that her life was pure, her end was was peace, and her rest was glorious.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, January 12th, by Rev. L.S. Keagle, assisted by Revs. Cobb and Markham.

Obituary
Hiram Davis
Another old land mark is gone, Hiram Davis died at his residence two and one-half miles northwest of Garrison, Friday at six a.m., February 13, 1891.
The deceased was born January 14, 1822 in Guernsey County, Ohio, came to Scott County Iowa in 1856, and to the home where he died in 1861. His age was sixty-nine years, twenty-nine days. He was married to Margaret James in Guernsey County, Ohio, November 16, 1843, and there were born unto them eleven children, nine of whom, with the bereaved wife are left to mourn his loss. He was converted and united with the Baptish church in Scott county, in 1859. His end was peaceful and hopeful; may his God be the support of the bereft wife and the guide of his children.
A large number of old friends and neighbors attended the funeral which was held in the Davis school house, Sunday, Feb 15, at eleven o'clock. The text of Scripture used at the services was Hebl 9:27, 28. J. Haymond

Pneumonia Fatal Benton City Farmer
Jackson Davis
Jackson Davis, 65 years old, died at five o'clock yesterday afternoon at his home in the Benton City neighborhood. He had been in ill health for some time, his illness terminating in pneumonia. Deceased lived with his step-mother. He never married. Short services wil be held Friday afternoon at the grave in the United Brethren cemetery in Eden township. Mr. Davis was a native of Iowa.

The Passing of Mrs. Margaret Davis of Garrison

Garrison Independent: The death of Mrs. Margaret Davis, which occured at her home three mmiles north of Garrison, last Sunday, marks the passing of another early comer to Iowa. She had been in poor health for some time and her death was not expected. The following obituary, was prepared by Rev. J. R. Laird of the Garrison Methodist Church, who conducted the funeral sevices.
Margaret James was bron in Waynesburg, Green County, Pennsylvania, October 27, 1824 and died at her home in Jackson township, December 1, 1912, age 88 years.
When she was a little girl, her parents died and she was reared by her grandparents, with whom she moved to Ohio when she was eleven years of age. On November 16th 1843 in Ohio she was married to Hiram Davis and thirteen years later moved with him in the pioneer's wagon to Scott county, Iowa. Here both husband and wife joined the fellowship of the Hickory Grove Baptist church, retaining their membership there until time of death. In 1861, they moved to Benton County, Iowa. bringing that devotion to things religious as common to the Pioneers of Iowa. For a time they lived in a pole shack until a log house was brought which served as their home for several years, when (1868) the house was built in which Mr. Davis died in, 1891, and from which now, Mrs. Davis has gone to the Home above. Eleven children came to gaidden their home, but two Willie and Etta, preceded the parents to the grave.
The others D.C. and E.J. of Guthrie Centre, T.M. of Palisade, Col, I.P. of Jackson township., Mrs. Lizzie Smith of Guthrie Centre, J.W. of Jackson township, M.V. of Guthrie Centre, H.B. of Jackson township. and H.F. of Minnesota, mourn the loss of a noble mother.
Mrs. Davis lived to see thirty-nine grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren. An eighty-six year old sister survives her. Mrs. Davis was everybody's friend and helper: she meekly strove to follow Christ and be a christian mother. It is probable, that at the time of her death, she was the oldest settler in the township. A large host of friends paid tribute to her memory at the funeral services, which was held from her late home, Tuesday afternoon and the interment was made at the Carlisle Grove cemetery.
Among those in attendance from a distance were: D.C. Davis, E.J. Davis, M.V. Davis of Guthrie Center and Miss Verna M. Davis of Mercy Hospital, Des Moines

Margaret Davis
Mrs. Margaret Davis of Near Garrison Passed Away at Advanced Age of Eighty-two years. Mrs. Margaret Davis, widow of the late Hiram Davis and a resident of near Garrsion passed away early Sunday morning at the advanced age of 88 years. Mrs. Davis had been in poor health about a year but her last sickness was only of about a week's duration. Death was caused from ailments incident to her extreme age.
The funeral was held this afternoon at 1 o' clock from the home. Rev. Laird of the Methodist church at Garrison conducted the services. The interment was in the Carlyle Grove cemetery.
Mrs. Davis had been a resident of Benton County about 52 years. She and her husband came to Iowa from Ohio. Mrs. Davis was born in Pennsylvania. She underwent many of the hardship and privation of the early settler in the state.
Mrs. Davis was the mother of eight living children, seven sons, and one daughter. The daughter Mrs. Elizabeth Smith is a resident of Guthrie Center, Ia and three sons David, Ebenezer and Manly are also residents of that place; Elbert is living in Minnesota, Milton in Colorado, and John and Isaiah are well known residents of this county. Mrs. Davis was a noble and her kindley deeds will live long in the memory of those who know her.

Garrison Items.
Willam (Willie) Davis
Several cases of diphtheria were heard of during last week, only one being in town. A child of Mr. Davis, living a few miles north of town, died of that disease on Friday last.
