Carl Wayne Cox
Carl Wayne Cox, son of James Wesley Cox, was born at Hormose, South Dakota, July 26, 1892 and passed away March 5, 1919, at the age of 26 years, 7 monhts, and 9 days. He came to Shellsburg in 1911, and on February 5, 1913, was married to Miss Mary Mongomery.
About three years ago he was taken with tuberculosis and since that time he has done no work, but patiently suffered until he was relieved from his suffering by death last Wednesday. He and his wife made a visit to Ohio where he spent a few days with his sisters, returning seven weeks ago to take to his bed, where loving hands waited upon him until he passed away.
He leaves to mourn his death his beloved wife and a little son, aged 3 years, his two sisters in Toledo, Ohio, and one brother in Faith, South Dakota., and many friends.
The funeral was held in the Baptist church Friday at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Bryden having charge of the service. Interment was in the Shellsburg Cemetery

DEATH DUE TO PARALYSIS. Mrs. Geo Cox Dies Near Brandon. Was a Splendid Woman.
Elvina Cox
As a result of paralytic stroke received the Sunday previous, Mrs. George Cox, 76 years old, died at her southwest of Brandon last Thursday morning.
The funeral was held from Bear Creek church last Friday afternoon. Rev. Perry of Brandon officiating. Interment was made in Bear Creek cemetery.
Mrs. Cox was a early settler of the Brandon neighborhood. She and her husband, the late George Cox, came from New York many years ago.
Mrs. Cox was a good woman and her death has caused sorrow and regret throughout the vicinity of her late home.
Three children besides grandchildren and great grand children survive. The children are Myron Cox, who lived at home with his mother, Mrs. Zoot Wilson of Vinton and Mrs. Gover of Spencer Grove.
Mrs. Cox enjoyed to an unusual degree the love and devotion of her children.

Geo. Cox
Died at his home four miles southwest of Brandon, Geo. Cox, passed from this life on March 10, 1903, aged 78 years, 11 months, 26 days. Mr. Cox was a native of New Jersey. He was married to Miss Elvina Buell when 26 years old and together they have traveled life's pathway for over fifty years. She and three children survive him. The funeral occured on Thursday March 12 at Bear Creek Church, Rev. Jessse Smith of Brandon M.E. Church officiating. Text was Psalms 90, 12th verse. He was buried in Bear Creek Cemetery.

Ruth E. Cox
Ruth E. Cox, 82, a resident of Cottage Grove Place, Cedar Rapids, formerly of Springville, died Tuesday, August 31, 1999, in St. Lukes Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following a sudden illness.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, September 3, 1999, at Murdoch Funeral Home, Marion, by the Rev. Del Bear... Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Shellsburg.
Survivors include two brothers, Hugh Bergen and wife, Delores, Hiawatha and Vernon Bergen and wife, JoAnne, Belvidere, Illinois and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Orville; a brother, Richard Bergen and a sister, Kathryn McGranahan.
Born the daughter of Royce and Irma Ray Bergen on Feb. 18, 1917, in Shellsburg. She married Orville Cox on October 9, 1936. He died July 28, 1986. She was a member of Springville Rebekah Lodge No. 99 and a longtime member of Springville United Methodist Church and Palette Pals Art Club...
