Tommy Coupland, 90, Dies in Shellsburg

Shellsburg-Israel (Tommy) Coupland, 90, died of complications of old age at 12:15 a.m. today at the home of his daughter and husband Mr. and Mrs. Roy Peterman in Shellsburg.
Mr. Coupland who had lived in Shellsburg since 1911, was born April 17, 1806 in East Heckington England. He was a son Mr. and Mrs. Israel Coupland.
He married Etta McBroom March 4, 1896 at Shellsburg she died Nov. 8, 1944. Mr Coupland moved from England to Canada in 1889 then came to the Shellsburg community in 1890.
Surviving are a son, Gage Coupland and a daughter Mrs. Peterman both of Shellsburg: three grandchildren four great-grandchildren and a brother, Abraham Coupland of England.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.
Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at two o'clock in the Federated church here Rev. Earl Travis will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
The body is at the fry and Holland funeral home..
