Carl Ellis Andrews
Carl E. Andrew Palo, Iowa died late Monday evening, Nov.2, 1998 at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, following an apparent heart attack at his residence.
He was born Aug. 29, 1928 near Palo on the family dairy farm where he has lived all of his life. He was the son of William W. and Ruth d (Lewis) Andrews. He graduated from Palo High School in 1946. From December 1950 to December of 1952 he served his nation in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Dye-Benion American Legion Post #297 of Center Point. He married Angeline Guyer at Celermont on Sept. 12, 1954. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Shellsburg. Survivors include his wife, Angeline; and three sons and daughter-in-laws, Randall and wife Cindy, Vinton: Kenton and wife Pam , Shellsburg; and Olin and wife Tonya, Palo; 13 grandchildren Lisa, Tina, Erin Andrews, Stephanie, Anson and Amy Andrews Justin, Jacob and Jay Bridgewater, Travis Fisher, Tabitha, Bryce and Wesley Andres; sister-in-law, DeElda Andrews, Cedar Rapids;; his wife's fourteen siblings; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Roy Andrews. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Zion Lutheran Church, Shellsburg, the Rev. Mark Leckband will officiate. Burial will be at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, rural Shellsburg, with military rites conducted by the Dye-Benion American Legion Post 297 of Center Point. Visitation will be today (Wedesday) from 4 to 8 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, Vinton, and after noon Thursday at the church.
