Photos of Postville Post twp. page 1 The third settlement in Allamakee County was made by Mr. and Mrs. Joel Post who established a halfway house on the military road between Fort Crawford and Ft. Atkinson in 1841.  The first post office in Allamakee County was established in Postville in January of 1849.
