Michael Clark &
"the boys"
Logging in Allamakee county
"This photo is of Michael Clark and "the boys" getting the wood out for steamers in Allamakee county. Michael Clark is the man in the center with the white beard. Family members say the young man standing by the steam engine with his hand on his hip is Michael's son John. John was always called Jack by his friends, and Johnnie by his family. If this is Johnnie in the photo, then the date would be in the 1890's. The identity of the others has been lost with time, but I am sure they are some of the folks mentioned in Michael Clark's journals" Jody Howard, May 2003
