1918

Waukon, Ia., Feb 18 - Allamakee Farm Bureau is now a permanent organization. The meeting was called to order by D.D. Honan, who was president of the [illegible] organization and all but the following named townships were represented: Union City, Waterloo, Ludlow, Franklin, Linton and Fairview. Mr. Lucas of the States Relation Services was present and made a strong appeal for the support of the government in the present war.

On mention the following nominations were ratified by the meeting:
President, Frank Kelleher, of Lafayette township
Vice president, Ben D. Helming of Union Prairie township
Secretary, Theodore Gronna of Paint Creek township
Treasurer, A.J. Laughlin, French Creek township
Also the following directors:

John Ronster, Iowa
T.W. Mullaney, Jefferson

On motion, ? Ophelm, John Hermanson and A.?. Steffen were elected directors from their respective townships of Hanover, Waterloo and Ludlow. The articles of incorporation and by-laws were read and adopted and the secretary was ordered to supply all members with a copy of them.

The County Agricultural Agent is a college trained agriculturist, a co-operative employee of the U.S. Dept of Agriculture, the State College of Agriculture and the County and local Farm Bureau. His duties are educational in nature and his work is conducted through meetings, demonstrations, consultations, and farm visits.

Theodore Gronna was chosen as a delegate to attend the State Convention with P.J. Quillin as alternate. Thomas Corcoran, Thomas Farley and Henry Opfer were the new directors elected.

1928

Many new members have come to the Allamakee County Farm Bureau since the membership campaign last September. The increased interest and knowledge of the organization is convincing Allamakee county farmers that the Farm Bureau is an organization substantiated by members who are combining their efforts to solve the agricultural problems. The following new members have enrolled in the Farm Bureau for 1928 since the membership drive:

1929

Allamakee No. 1 C. T. A. Report.
The association for the month of April made a very good showing with an average of 564 pounds milk and 20.4 pounds of butterfat. The herds that averaged 30 pounds of butterfat are as follows: John Sivesind’s, 35.1 lbs. butterfat; John Haas’, 34.2 lbs.; Leslie Kerndt’s, 30.6 lbs.

Change of Articles of Incorporation.
A meeting has been called by Paul Hager, President of the Allamakee County Farm Bureau, for May 16 at 2:00 P. M. at the City Hall, Waukon, for the purpose of changing the articles of incorporation of the bureau, so as to comply with the clarification law, which was passed at the last state legislature session.
