BRIEF SKETCH OF ST. PETER'S UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST

In 1884, Pastor Jacob Maierle first held worship services in New Albin. On January 17, 1885, St. Peter's congregation was organized. Pastor Maierle served the people until 1886.

Pastor J. Ernest Birkner was called June 1886, and resigned in the fall of 1892. During his pastorate the wood frame church was purchased from the Swedish Lutheran church for $200.00.

Pastor Bernhard Vogelsang came to serve the church late in 1892, and served until April 1897. During his pastorate the first wood frame church structure was built at the cost of $1,400.00.

Pastor Henry Kunz was the next pastor. He served from 1897 until 1903.

Pastor Karl Bizer served from 1903 until 1918.

Pastor Theophil Stoerker served from 1918 until 1923. During his pastorate the parsonage was built. It is still in use.

Pastor Louis Denninghaff served from 1923 until 1926.

Pastor P.C. Keinath served from 1926 until 1930.

Pastor Fredric Bemberg served from 1930 until 1937.

Pastor Ervin Florin served from 1938 until 1943.

Pastor Paul H. Franzmeier served from 1943 until 1953.

Pastor Emil Burrichter served from 1954 until 1963.

Pastor Clyde Lee answered the call to St. Peter's June 1963, and still serves the congregation.

The congregation will be 85 years old in 1970.
