'Golden Agers' Have Annual Dinner
About 90 persons were present for the annual meeting of the Allamakee County Golden Age group held Wednesday, Sept. 21, with a 1:30 p.m. dinner served at the Food Ranch in Waukon.
Among the original planners of the annual Golden Age event, first
held in 1970, were, left to right:
Cora Palmer, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Dee, Myrtle Beardmore and
Hildred O'Riley.
Mrs. John Berg of Waukon gave the table grace.
While the tables were being cleared old-time music was provided by Leonard Beardmore and John Kroack.
The 1976 minutes were read, and the 1977 committee members were asked to rise and receive applause. They are: Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Larson of Waukon, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Schultz of Postville, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Maust of Lansing, and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Jordan of New Albin.

Members who had attended the eight dinners that have been held by the group were also asked to rise and there were about 15 of them.
Mr. and Mrs. John Kroak were given the prize for being the longest married couple; Rudy Huebner of Postville, 87, the oldest man; Mrs. Elmer Hanson, Waukon, 86, the oldest woman; Robert Maust of Lansing, door prize, and Mrs. Olvin Sorenson, the youngest when she became a grandmother.
MARRIED LONGEST
Mr. and Mrs. John Kroack of New Albin, who have been married for
62 years,
won the prize in that category at Wednesday's "Golden
Age" event in Waukon.
A moment of silence was observed in memory of deceased members.
Myrtle Beardmore led a sing-along after which Helen Gruver presented slides of her trip to the Holy Land.
