Isaiah Wood was born 1795 in Virginia and died October 19, 1871 in Waukon, IA. He was married to Sophia Crawford Barnes in 1849, Coshocton County, Ohio. According to the 1860 U.S. census, Isaiah Wood was a lawyer and postmaster at Volney, Allamakee co. IA.
Sophia Crawford Barnes Wood was born June 1808 in Donegal, Ireland. She died March 7, 1885 in Waukon, IA.
Ida Barnes was Sophia's granddaughter, the daughter of Sophia's son Thomas Henry Barnes and Julia Angie Orr.

Thomas Henry Barnes, M.D. was born 1832, in Coshocton County, Ohio. He died June 2, 1889 in Brown County, Nebraska. Dr. Barnes spent his active medical career in Volney and Waukon, Allamakee co. IA. He married his first wife, Julia A. Orr in Ohio on May 24, 1854. After Julia's death, he married Miriam Elizabeth Ferris in 1862. During the Civil War he was a captain in Company K, 1st Iowa Cavalry Volunteers, 38th Infantry, July 1861-Dec. 16, 1864. He represented Allamakee co. in the Iowa House of Representatives for one term in 1880. |
Julia Angie Orr was born 1836 in Ohio, the daughter of Thomas Orr, M.D. (abt1800-abt 1855) and Lovina T. Thompson (abt1805-1852). She married Thomas Henry Barnes on May 24, 1854, in Knox County, Ohio. They removed to Volney, Allamakee County, Iowa in 1854. She died May 13, 1859 in Waukon, Iowa, after the birth of her third child. |

Ida Barnes Culbertson
Ida Barnes was born May 10, 1856 in Volney, Allamakee co. IA. She was the only daughter and only surviving child of Thomas Henry Barnes, M.D. and Julia Angie Orr. She died December 2, 1921 in Provo, Utah. Ida married Louis A. Culbertson on October 11, 1883 in Waukon, IA. Louis A. Culbertson was born in 1850 at Zanesville, OH. He died in 1932 in Provo, Utah.

15, 1887 she married Otto E. Mickelson in Waukon. Otto
was born in February 1867 in Christiana, Norway. They had

William Henry Barnes William
Henry Barnes was born March 2, 1869 in Waukon. He died in
December 1953. On January 25, 1897 he married Mary
Colbornson in Waukon. Mary was born February 13, 1871 at
Elon, Allamakee co. and died January 6, 1950. They had
two daughters. |

Florence Melvina Barnes Florence
Melvina Barnes was born December 29, 1870 in Waukon. She
died November 22, 1956. She married Frederick Peter
Spinner on October 25, 1893 in Waukon. Frederick was born
September 14, 1866 in Village Creek, Allamakee county and
died November 22, 1944. They had ten children. |
Mary C. Barnes Mary Barnes was born on February 13, 1871 in Elon, Allamakee county. She died January 6, 1950. She and her husband lived in Grand Rapids, Wisconsin. |
