Pearl Ruby (Smith) Price
Pearl Price was born in February of
1901, near the old town of Myron in the Postville area.
The family included parents, Ira and Jennie Smith, a
sister Ethelyn and brothers Lester and Clinton. They attended the Bethel United Brethren Church which later merged with the Forest Mills Methodist Church. Pearl attended Myron county school, Postville High School and taught for two years after normal school training. After graduating from Coe College in Cedar Rapids in 1926, she taught home economics six years before marrying Arthur W. Price of Milton. They farmed near the Myron area for many years raising a daughter Shirley (Miller), whose family eventually came to join Pearl. Pearl's grandchildren and great-grandchildren are frequent visitors at the Good Samaritan Center where Pearl now makes her home. Pearl is a kind and generous woman, a pleasant addition to our family. ~Postville Herald, Wednesday, April 9, 1980 (column: Resident of the Month, Good Samaritan Center, Postville, Iowa) Note: Pearl moved from
the Good Samaritan Center to Thornton Manor in Lansing
after she was featured in the above article. She passed
away in 1983 |
