INTLEKOFER - SMERUD | The marriage of Pfc. Rosemary Smerud and Ensign Francis Intlekofer was solemnized at the Catholic Chapel at the Naval Air Station, Corpus Christi, Texas, Feb. 3rd at a Nuptial Mass, offered by Rev. John J. Reardon, USNR. Attendants were Ensign James Fiariona and John Ledford, friends of the groom. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Smerud of New Albin, a graduate of the high school of that city and at present is chief operations clerk at Drew Field, Tampa, Florida, where she will continue with the work. The groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Intlekofer, of Waukon, where he was educated in the parochial and public schools. Following his graduation he was employed by the Murray Aircraft Corporation, Detroit, Mich., when he enlisted for service in December, 1942. He received his call on April 14th, 1943 and after his induction at Detroit went into the Naval Air Corps Reserve and was sent to a pre-flight school at Wooster, Ohio. His training was continued at the State University, Columbus, Ohio, and he was later transferred to Iowa City, Iowa. Mr. Intlekofer was sent to Ottumwa, Iowa, July 1, 1944, for flying tactics and later sent to Corpus Christi, Texas, for his final completion of naval aviation. Francis was graduated as a Naval Aviator with the class of October 18th, 1944,a t Rodd Field and commissioned an Ensign. He was then sent to Atlanta, Ga., where in six weeks of advanced training he completed an instructors course in naval aviation and has since been engaged as an instructor at Cabaniss Field, where he is at present located. ~undated clipping - contributed by Errin Wilker, note: they were married in 1944 |
IRONS - BAILEY | Manchester Spending part of their honeymoon in Manchester this weekend with the bride's sister, Mrs. Cecil Koeneke, are Mr. and Mrs. Wayne M. Irons, Lansing, who were married at Immaculate Conception church, Lansing, Tuesday morning by the pastor, Rev. Fr. Henry Scharphoff. The bride was the former Miss Mary Jane Bailey, Lansing. Attending the couple were Miss Lavina Gander, Lansing, a classmate of the bride, and John D. Irons, Waukon, brother of the groom. The couple left later in the day on a honeymoon trip and will live at Lansing. The bride is the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Bailey. She has been an employee of the Lansing Co., Inc. The groom is the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest C. Irons, Lansing. For 33 months he served in the army in the southern Pacific area. He was discharged with the rank of corporal. IRVIN - FUNK | The marriage of K.W. Irvin of Hamburg and Mrs. Ada Funk of Waukon, took place Saturday at the home of the Rev. W.O. Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. F.H. Johnson witnessed the ceremony.
