| CALDWELL - MITCHELL | Waukon Standard:—A character well known as a resident of Postviile, “Madam Mitchell, the English fortune teller,” was married at Marshalltown last week to Capt. M. J. Caldwell. She is an old hand at the marrying business, having been married, it is said, three times in the last year or two. She is 76 and he is 80 year old. Recently she was married to an old soldier named Moser living in the Soldiers' Home, a marriage at first sight arrangement worked through a matrimonial agency. Rolph, to Miss Lizzie Hughes. Those moonlight sleigh rides John used to take last winter, meant something after all. We should think there would be hard feelings on this separation of the "twin Johns;" we guess, however, they can both stand it. | CASTEN - THOMA | At the Lutheran parsonage in Postville on Tuesday evening, Feb. 15th, at 8:30 o'clock, Rev. E. Schmidt united in marriage two well known and highly respected Postville young people, Miss Harriet A. Thoma and Mr. John O. Casten, the ceremony being witnessed by Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Palmer, the latter a sister of the bride. The bride is a daughter of Mr. J. M. Thoma of this city, a graduate of our schools and a good sensible girl in every way, while the groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. John Casten, an upright and industrious young man. | CAUGHLIN - LANKFORD | At a candle light ceremony last Wednesday evening at 7:30 o’clock in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Lankford, their youngest daughter, Miss Frances, became the bride of Mr. Joseph Caughlin, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Caughlin, of New Albin. Rev. Calvin Willemssen, of the Federated Church, Lansing, pronounced the marriage vows and attendants were Mrs. Richard Terry, sister of the bride, and Mr. Harold Verdon. The bride was becomingly gowned in a dress of black transparent velvet edged in white lace and wore a shoulder corsage of red roses, sweet peas and baby breath. Her sister wore a dress of similar color and fashion, and a shoulder corsage of red roses and white mums. Both gentlemen wore oxford grey suits. The room was decorated in a color scheme of pink, white and green and bouquets of gladiolas and dahlias graced the furniture. Following the ceremony a reception was tendered the happy couple and close friends. A three-tier wedding cake centered the dining room table. Mrs. Caughlin is a graduate or the Lansing high school and her husband, a World War II veteran, having recently been honorably discharged after seeing service in England for a long time. The happy couple left late the same evening on a short wedding trip to points in Wisconsin Where at Tomah, the new home will be made upon their return, Mr. Caughlin being an employee of the War Veteran’s Hospital of that city. | CHASE - UECKER | From the Elkader Register -At ten o'clock Wednesday morning at the home of Mr. and Mrs. August UECKER, in Elkader, occurred the marriage of their daughter, Jessie M. and Fred Leslie CHASE. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Mr. FRANKE, of the German church in the presence of a large number of relatives of the contracting parties. Miss Vina DECKER, a sister of the bride served as bridesmaid while John GREGG of Postville, acted as groomsman. After the ceremony came a season of congradulations and then a sumptous wedding dinnner, the reception being continued during the afternoon. The bride is one of our most worthy young ladies, born and raised in Elkader, and has a large circle of friends who wish her a happy wedded life. The groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. W.I. CHASE, of Postville, an active, industrious young man, who has acquired a fine farm at Colton, S.D. where he and his bride will settle down to the realities of life. Wood, an estimable young lady of that city, whose acquaintance Gilbert made while stopping with his brother, Prof. A.L. Chase, at Monticello, Iowa, which place was at that time her home. While the bride is unknown to Postville people, none doubt Gilbert's wisdom in selecting a spouse who will be a helpmeet and who knows exactly how to make his home a happy one. | CHRISTOFFERSON - MINGER | On Wednesday, December 23, 1931, at 2:30 o'clock at the Methodist parsonage in Dubuque occurred the marriage of Miss Rita I. Minger and Herman Christofferson. The single ring ceremony was read by Rev. D. D. Welsh. The bridal couple were attended by Miss Winnifred Goeke of Dubuque, a close friend of the bride, and Leonard Christofferson, a brother of the groom. The bride was attired in a lovely gown of blue georgette and she wore a metallic hat. the bridesmaid wore a brown flat crepe dress with hat to match. The groom and his attendant wore suits of dark blue. Following the ceremony the bridal party returned to the bride's home at Guttenberg, where an elaborate wedding supper was served to the bridal party and close relatives. The spacious rooms and tables were appropriately decorated in a color scheme of pink and white. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Minger of Guttenberg. She is a lady of many achievements and a graduate of Guttenberg high school, Finley Hospital School of Nursing at Dubuque and the Chicago Lying-In hospital. For the last four years she has successfully practiced her profession of nursing. The groom is a son of Mrs. Mary Christofferson of this locality, and is known to all as an honorable, upright and industrious young man. | CLAIR - ERICKSON | A very pretty June wedding was that of Miss Agnes Rosabel Erickson and Clarence Alfred Clair of Moline, Ill., which took place at the Swedish Baptist church in Center township, June 2, at 8 o’clock p.m., the Rev. Martin Erickson of Moline officiating and being assisted by the Rev. J. R. Lindblom, pastor of the church. The attendants were Minnie Erickson, sister of the bride, and Lloyd Clair, brother of the groom. The bride wore a white satin floor length gown and veil, and carried a bouquet of pink and white roses and ferns. The bridesmaid was attired in an ankle length dress of figured crepe, carried pink and white roses and snapdragons. The wedding colors, shell pink, blue and silver were carried out in decoration of church, bouquets, etc. The ring service was used, Master Leslie Larson of Moline being the ring bearer, and little Miss Aleta Bishop of Nora Springs, Iowa, flower girl. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. R. Erickson of Center township and the groom, who is production estimator for Rock Island Arsenal, a son of Gus Clair of Moline. A reception was held in the church basement, where a two-course luncheon was served to about eighty guests. Out of town attendants at the wedding were: Mrs. Ernest Furchner, Plankinton, S. D.; Mrs. Jay Bishop and family, Nora Springs, Ia. Mr. and Mrs. Irving Lawton and family, Victor, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Colbornson, Marengo, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. B. Henckla and family, Moline, Ill.; Gus Clair and family, Moline; Ralph Sexina and Lloyd Clair, Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Roland Nyquist, Moline; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Stranlund, Moline; the Rev. and Mrs. M. Erickson, Moline; Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Larson and family, Moline; Ben Pullman, Moline, Ill. | CLARK - FRITZ | Waukon, Ia., Nov. 21 - A pretty fall wedding was that of Miss Bernice Fritz, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John C. Fritz of Lycurgus, and Horace Clark, son of Mrs. Wallace Clark of Makee township, which took place Wednesday forenoon at ten o'clock at the Congregational church at Churchtown, the ceremony being performed by Rev. Kurt Schalk and witnessed by relatives and friends. The attendants were Mrs. Ray Miller of Mason City, sister of the bridegroom, and Miss Martha Wendel of Lansing, and Arthur Fritz and Harold Clark, brothers of the bride and bridegoom. A wedding dinner was served the bridal couple and the immediate relatives at the Fritz home, after which Mr. and Mrs. Clark departed by car for a week's visit with relatives of the bridegoom at Minneapolis. | CLARK - WILLIAMS | Married. At the M.E. Church, in this village, on Thursday evening, the 9th inst., by Rev. P.E. MILLER; Mr. H.G. CLARK to Miss Ellen J. WILLIAMS. The nuptials were witnessed by a house full of friends and neighbors of the "bride" and "groom" who gathered for the purpose of congratulating them upon their union. From the church, a large number of invited guests adjourned to their residence, a new and fine one, which Mr. CLARK had already prepared and furnished in good style, ready for occupation; and where a magnificiently spread table awaited their arrival. Here a general social time was enjoyed; heartily expressed "good-wills", music and feasting being the order until nearly twelve o'clock, when the visitors quietly dispersed, leaving the family, so pleasantly installed in their new home, to its quiet enjoyment. operator working in the vicinity of Farmersburg. The
bride has been employed as an office clerk in Cedar

S.J. Meyer officiating. the attendants were Mr. and Mrs. Robert Cooper, cousins of the groom. Mr. Cooper is the youngest son of Mrs. Kate Cooper, a graduate of the Lansing high school and an employee of the State Conservation Commission, recently having received his honorable discharge from the Navy. they will make their home temporarily with his mother until a new home is established in Lansing. | CORNELL - ALSPAUGH | Married. On Wednesday evening, June 27, the home of Mr. and Mrs. D.A. Alspaugh was the scene of a happy gathering, it being the occasion of the marriage of their daughter, Florence to Anson P. Cornell. Promptly at 8 o'clock in response to a well rendered wedding march by Mrs. A.W. Kramer, the contracting parties appeared on the floor, attended by Welton Cornell and Miss Alice Bloxam. They took their position under an arch of cedar tastily bedecked with flowers, where, in the presence of more than forty invited guests, they were solemnly united in the holy bonds of matrimony, the bride's pastor officating. After the ceremony a dainty lap supper was served, following which a general good time was enjoyed by all. The bride is one of Castalia's highly esteemed young ladies and the groom a young man of excellent character, making the bride a fitting life companion. | COTTON - EBENDORF | A wedding of interest to Freeport people took place June 3 at 3:30 p.m. at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Ebendorf, Waukon, Iowa, when their daughter, Miss Lura, became the bride of James L. Cotton of this city. Rev. Crum of McGregor performed the ceremony in the presence of relatives and a few intimate friends, Miss Lena Sandbeck and Mr. Harry Ebendorf attended the couple. The bride has lived in Waukon since childhood and is a highly esteemed young lady. Following her graduation from the Waukon public schools, she studied telegraphy and has filled several positions very creditably with the Western Union in Chicago. The groom is a railroad fireman who has a run on the Illinois Central out of Freeport where they will reside.
