Page: 400According to the immigration records, Source Publication Code 9417, the primary immigrant: “Schafernolte, Mrs. (Wilhemine F.) came to America with 5 children, arrival in 1873. Listed according by age, daughter Henrietta age 20, son August age 18, daughter Karoline age 15, daughter Julia age 13 and son Ernst age 10. Daughter Henrietta (Schaefernolte) had already married Simon Adam in Germany and had two daughters, Pauline and Julia. Wilhelmine’s husband Frederick had already died in Germany. An older son, Frederick W Schaefernolte, born in 1849 came to America, arriving in 1869.

Here is a little Allamakee County family history on my wife's Schaefernolte Family.Wilhelmine Schaefernolte came to America in 1873. It was Grandma and 5 children.
Another son, Frederich Schaefernolte came earlier in 1869. He lived in Missouri, Oklahoma and died in Kansas. He and his wife Julia Korsmeier (Wimmer after the death of Frederick) only had one child - Edna Schaefernolte Hammett. Edna had three children. Some of this family ended up in Texas. Frederick was the only sibling that I came across that kept the Schaefernolte name in America. Frederick was born in 1849 (Germany) and died in 1923 (Kansas).
Grandma Wilhelmine, (the mother), was born in 1825 (Germany) and died in 1906 and with 3 of her other children are buried in Bethlehem Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Ludlow Twp, Allamakee Co. Her stone says "Schafer".
Her son, August, born in 1854 (Germany) and died in 1934 is "Schaefer", and her son Ernst born in 1861 (Germany) and died in 1944 is spelled "Shafer".
Henriette (Henrietta) "Hettie" Schaefernolte (Simon) Adam was born in 1851 (Germany) and died in 1927. Henriette and Simon Adam were married in Germany and had two daughters born there before coming to America. They lived in Quincy, Adam Co Illinois for awhile and some of the children were born there, and also Higginsville (area) Missouri as some were also born there. An 1892 Postville newspaper article mentions them coming to Allamakee Co Iowa and increasing the population by 12. Quite a few of the 1st generation grandchildren are buried in Bethlehem Cemetery.
My wife's great grandmother, Julia Schaefernolte Siekmeier was born in 1859 (Germany) and died in 1941 and is buried in Crystal lake Iowa.
There was another daughter that I have yet to locate and that would be Karoline (Caroline) Schaefernolte and she was 15 when they came to America in 1873. So I am thinking she was born in 1857/ 1858. I haven't found anything on her after their arrival in 1873.

I have seen a lot of our family obituaries and articles from Mary Durr and she stated that they were from her mother's scrapbook, just wonder if she is also related to my wife's family. I would love to hear from any and all who have information on the Schaefernolte Family and their descendents."
